Looking For An Analog Modeling Synth
Purchasing An Alesis Micron Analog Modeling Synth

Analog synthesizer uses analog circuits and methods of an analog computing machine for generation of electronic sound. Some of the first analog synth were built during the the first three decades of 20th century, adopted electro-mechanical technology, and only during the 1960s, these analog synth with integrated circuits were introduced even as there were provisions in these synth to adjust sound traits. During the 1960s Alesis micron analog modeling synthesizer and Moog synth used a variety of modules which were independent and connected through patch cables, but later productions like Minimoog introduced integrated single units, getting rid of patch cords, and signal circuits which were integrated were made use of.
Since the patch cards used in analog synth were making the instrument not only costly, but also were damaging the system, resulting in time consuming process to repair, analog synthesizer of later versions experimented with the use of integrated single units even as patch cords were replaced by integrated signal routing. Minimoog is the most important and popular design introduce by the Moog synth, having an inbuilt keyboard and getting rid of the modular shape. While the new design retained the analog circuits the inter connections were achieved through switches arranged in a process called "normalization". Though these analog synth were not as flexible as the modular ones, normalization resulted in making the instrument size reduced, and it was more easy to use the instrument. This first Minimoog analog synthesizer became popular even as over 12000 instruments were sold very soon.
The revolution introduced by the Minimoog caught up with the all synth which came out later. All analog synth were not having integrated keyboards, modulation and pitch wheels and signal flows of identical nature. The analog synth was further made portable with miniature components during the 1970s. These were popularly used in many music shows. In fact soon all the musical repertoires boasted of Electronic synth, even as this synth were used in the musical contribution to films like James Bond 1969 movie, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. After this film, many films used synthesizer for their music.
Most important manufacturers of analog synth are Moog synth, ARP, Alesis, and Yamaha etc. Most of this synth preferred to be monophonic, due to the very complex generation of notes in the analog synth. Those analog synths which opted for polyphony had only a very minimal polyphony, supporting only four voices. Moog Synth also experimented with manufacture of polyphonic analog synth, though in many was its design was like that of an electronic organ instead of a conventional analog synthesizer. The Polymoog was not very popular, in any case.
The Polyphonic synth however have been made by other manufacturers and with the advent of digital synth, the very concept of analog synth came under stress, even as many people went digital and today the market is full of digital synthesizer systems. Even as digitalization has made an impact on music world, the conventional methods also came under stress, relegating the traditional synth to the background.
